Ella DuBard is a first-year PhD student in the School Psychology Doctoral program at the University of South Carolina. She received her B.S. in Psychology, with a minor in Criminal Justice, at the University of South Carolina in 2023, and continued as a research assistant at UofSC in the Study of Trauma, Adolescence, Relationships, and Resilience (STARR) lab.
Ella’s research interests focus on developing programs and interventions that support youth at risk for juvenile delinquency and entry into the criminal justice system. Specifically, she intends to utilize a mindfulness and compassion-based framework, that supports the child and their family and community. Ella intends to lead an education and career in psychology that values the ecological model of health, and places advocacy and social justice at the heart of her work for children, their families, and their communities.
For fun, Ella enjoys cooking, reading, watching old movies, and snuggling with her two cats, Gizmo and Tulah. Also in her free time, Ella volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem for the Richland County CASA, and greatly values the time she spends advocating for children in her community.
